Tool Talk: Tapepro Drywall Tools

Tapepro Drywall Tools has been manufacturing the highest-quality tools for drywall professionals since 2001.  But, after some research, it is easy to understand the origins of Tapepro goes back decades further, and it all started with Grahame Orchard.

Australian Plaster Tradesmen

Grahame had already been working in the plasterboard industry for 20 years when he opened Wallboard Tool Company in 1976, from Sydney, Australia.  He was already deeply familiar with the industry tools and tools makers, so he used his knowledge to build a business that eventually became the largest supplier of tools to professionals in the Australian plasterboard trades.

Grahame made himself the expert in the tools of his trade, and he made it his mission to test every tool for his industry that he could find.  He wanted to know how the tools worked, how durable they were, and whether they saved time, effort, or money.  This led him to become Australia’s foremost expert on the topic, and his drive to always find the best tools is what continues to make his stores so successful today.

Cultivating Innovation

Grahame’s passion and knowledge for his craft has had a strong influence on his own son, Stewart Orchard.  Stewart grew up learning about plastering tools and trades. His personal experience and passion for improvement and innovation led him on his own path to open Tapepro Drywall Tools in 2001, so that he could begin to manufacture the best tools.

Tapepro began as the Australian manufacturer of the “Blue Tools” line of plastering and drywall tools.  These 14 products were inspired by the (then discontinued) Premier Drywall Tools line, and Tapepro offered only the most basic products.  Since then, Tapepro’s mission has been to develop the most reliable drywall tools on the market, and they have continued to succeed in their mission to today.

Tapepro has a reputation for having some of the best professional-grade tools on the market.  They have worked hard for that reputation, too.  Tapepro now has an entire team to help them design, research, and test new tools and ideas.  Their team is dedicated to making tools that continue to work after a lot of use, tools that are safe to use, and tools that make the work easier.  Tapepro does this by offering all parts you might need to repair your tools online, and makes sure that schematics and videos for their tools can easily be found on their website.  They have a full library of information available on their website, for free, which allows their customers to use, repair, and troubleshoot their tools from the jobsite.

Tapepro also has strong partnerships with the companies that sell their tools.  They regularly work with distributors to ensure that they are offering the most current products, they have the most up to date information, and that customers are getting the help and service that they need.  Tapepro has developed relationships with tool distributors worldwide, so that no matter where their tools are used, they can be used with ease.

Legacy of Excellence

From a simple line of three flat boxes, a pump with a couple of accessories, and a few fixed handles, Tapepro has since developed the most extensive line of tools for drywall and plaster professionals.  Today, Tapepro has over 75 individual products and dozens of finishing and maintenance kits.

Tapepro has established its reputation as the most recognizable (and maybe most-desired) line of tools on the jobsite.  If you do a quick search on the internet, you might even see them referred to as the “Mercedes of Taping Tools.”  Their tools are known for being made of the strongest materials, having the best designs, and for being easy to use.  Tapepro also makes sure that all of the information about their tools (including how to repair them yourself) is available online – for free.  From instructional videos to drawings with part numbers, Tapepro has an entire library available for drywall professionals.
