How To Use Your Automatic Taper

Automatic taping tools have been a vital tool in the drywall industry for many years.  As time has progressed, so have the capabilities of the tools.  But, as the tools have become more technically advanced, they have also become more complicated to use.  Internet searches for ‘how to use a taping bazooka’ have dramatically increased, and professionals are regularly looking for tips and tricks on how to maximize their tool’s effectiveness. 

There are several companies that make automatic taping guns, and some companies make several different models of automatic tapers, so the instructions for use can vary widely based on manufacturer and model.  Further complicating matters, the instructions for use may change over time as the tool maker improves the tool’s features and function.    So, how and where do you find the information?

Looking the information on how to use your tools can sometimes be a difficult task. Let’s face it – you don’t have time for that.  We know you’re busy working.  So, we’ve done the work for you and scoured the internet for the best links to instructions and instructional videos on how to use your automatic taping tool, and we’ve included the best ones that we found below.  We sorted them based on brand, so you don’t have to spend all day looking for the information you need. 

COLUMBIA TAPING TOOLS

Columbia has a great YouTube channel with many useful videos on how to operate and repair the tools they manufacture.  They partnered with Phil of PRC Taping to create a detailed video on how to use the Columbia Drywall Automatic Taper, and we have shared it below.

DRYWALL MASTER

This video isn’t necessarily a how-to, but it is a great video of a couple of experienced drywall professionals using tapers for the first time. This video does a great job of showing some of the issues that can come up when first using the bazooka, but also shows how to address those issues.

LEVEL 5 TOOLS

Level5 Tools teamed up with Drywall Nation to create one of the best series of videos about using your Level5 Automatic Taper. This video does a great job of walking you through setting up your taper for use, and how to use it to tape drywall.  This video is also broken into chapters, making it very easy to skip to the sections you want to see.

TAPEPRO

Tapepro has partnered with Maxkil to create a playlist of videos using the Tapepro Automatic Taper. We’ve included their beginner video below, but there are several helpful videos in the playlist regarding several automatic taping tools. This crew is based in Australia and have been working with Tapepro tools for many years.

TAPETECH

This great video from the Red Pine Ridge Farm Channel is long, but he has broken it down into 5 separate chapters for you, so you can skip to the section you need to see.  He does a great job of showing how he mixes the mud for the taper, and even includes how he used the TapeTech bazooka for applying tape to the inside corners of the room.  We recommend this video for its thoroughness, and we’ve skipped ahead for you to the part on using the taper.
