Apla-Tech X Drywall Master: Retrofitting your Flat Box for the CFS

Apla-Tech has decades of experience working with drywall professionals, so it’s not a surprise that they developed the most efficient system for drywall finishing professionals.  Similarly, Drywall Master has also been working in the drywall finishing industry for decades, and they specialize in making versatile tools that are interchangeable with most systems.

Now, both companies are working together to try to save you time – and money.

Apla-Tech and Drywall Master are teaming up to show you how easy (and cost effective) it is for their tools to work together, through a new step-by-step video (below) showing how you can retrofit your Drywall Master flat finishing boxes to work with the Apla-Tech CFS, so you can do more in less time.

Apla-Tech Continuous Flow System (CFS)

Apla-Tech Continuous Flow System

The Apla-Tech Continuous Flow System (CFS) is one of the oldest and most well-known professional drywall finishing systems on the market.  It works in conjunction with specific professional airless pumps (see list below) to apply drywall joint compound continuously, eliminating the need for refilling any tools with mud.  The CFS also creates a more consistent finish than using manual finishing tools and is extremely efficient at compound application.

The Apla-Tech CFS can require an upfront investment, which is why they have developed methods of adapting tools from other toolmakers to fit and work with their system.  Allowing professionals to use the tools they already have keeps costs down, and it lowers the bar for initial setup costs.

Drywall Master Flat Finishing Boxes

Drywall Master Tools is also a well-known brand in drywall finishing.  Though they are a newer brand, their experience in drywall finishing is not.  Similar to Apla-Tech, Drywall Master has decades of experience in the drywall industry.  They consistently design and build tools that are tough, so it’s not a surprise to see these two companies team up.

Drywall Master has several lines of flat finishing boxes available, from easy-to-clean flat boxes, to high-capacity models and a line of inside-track flat boxes that allow finishers to access hard to reach areas.  Regardless of your style preference, Drywall Master flat boxes are made of the most durable materials available, so they will last on the jobsite as long as you do.

Apla-Tech Adapter Plate

Apla-Tech CFS Flat Finishing Box Custom Adapter Plate

Apla-Tech wants their tools to work with your tools, regardless of the brand.  To that effort, they developed a custom adapter plate that can easily be swapped into your current flat finishing box, allowing you to use it with the CFS flat box handle.  By removing the springs and rubber gasket, swapping out for the adapter plate, then reassembling, you can now use your Drywall Master flat boxes with the Apla-Tech CFS.

Apla-Tech includes an appropriately sized adapter plate with the purchase of the Flat box handle, so you will have what you need to use it the day it arrives.

Flat Box Modification Walk Through Video

For those of you that are visual learners, Dave from Apla-Tech has made an excellent step-by-step video showing how you can modify your own box in a few quick steps.  You can see the video on Drywall Master’s YouTube channel, but we included it for you here, so you don’t have to go looking for it.

Airless Pumps with Required Flow Rate for Apla-Tech CFS

Apla-Tech designed the Continuous Flow System to work with professional-grade airless pumps. These pumps are sold separately, by other manufacturers. However, Apla-Tech has spent significant time testing professional airless pumps to verify which pumps will have the strength necessary to use the system effectively.

The following pumps have been tested with the Apla-Tech CFS system, have the required flow rate, and have been proven to work effectively with the CFS system:

Graco Mark V (Pre-2019)
Graco Mark V Vortex (2019-2024)
Graco Mark V XT (2025 & newer)
Graco Mark IV XT (2025 & newer)
TriTech T15
